As the community of Downtown Markham continues to grow, so too do the accolades for the unparalleled development project. On Friday, April 27, 2012 at the 32nd Annual BILD Awards, The Remington Group’s 243-acre, $4 Billion development was named Place to Grow Community of the Year in the high-rise division.
“We’re thrilled to win this award,” said Chris Bratty, President, The Remington Group. “Community is at the very heart of Downtown Markham. It’s not just a place to live but also a place to work and a place to play, marrying residential, retail, commercial, entertainment, culture and recreation. It’s quickly becoming the destination we had envisioned.”
Nearly a thousand of the GTA's biggest builders, designers, sales and marketing professionals were on hand to celebrate the very best of the GTA's new home construction industry at the BILD Awards. With a record-setting 1,200 submissions in 49 categories, this year's event was the biggest yet.
And the high-rises of Downtown Markham took centre stage, where Nexus South will begin construction later this year to join already established condominium communities Nexus North, Rouge Bijou and The Verdale.
With Cineplex Entertainment’s 62,000 square foot theatre set to open in 2013 and the Town of Markham recently approving plans for a state-of-the-art sports, entertainment and cultural facility, excitement is high at Warden Avenue and the 407. In addition to entertainment, there will be restaurants and high-end retail stores as well as 3.4 million square feet of office space in Downtown Markham, including National Headquarters for Motorola and Honeywell.
Upon completion, 15,000 people will call Downtown Markham home and 16,000 will be working right in the core of the community’s leading-edge commercial ventures.
