Building Green

Welcome to The Remington Group, where sustainability meets innovation in building practices.
In today's world, sustainability isn't just a buzzword—it's a driving force behind consumer choices.

Three out of four consumers prioritize sustainability when making decisions, and at Remington, we understand the profound impact of green development on communities and the environment.

Our commitment to sustainability extends across all our projects, whether it's low-rise residential buildings, high-rise towers, or commercial spaces. We believe in the pillars of sustainability—economic, environmental, and social—and integrate them seamlessly into our design, construction, and facility management processes.

Green buildings aren't just about being eco-friendly; they offer tangible benefits to residents, employees, and customers. From healthier indoor environments to inspiring workspaces and reduced utility costs, green buildings contribute to a better quality of life and help combat climate change by cutting carbon emissions.

At Remington, we don't just meet industry standards; we surpass them. Our projects prioritize occupant comfort, building performance, and long-term sustainability. We collaborate closely with municipalities, consultants, and environmental experts to incorporate cutting-edge and resilient technologies into every aspect of our work.

Whether you're looking for a sustainable home or a green commercial space, you can trust that Remington's designs reflect the latest advancements in energy-saving and environmentally conscious construction. Join us in building a greener, healthier future—one project at a time.

Pioneers in Community Sustainability

At Remington Group, we are committed to promoting sustainable living across our communities, setting new industry standards and fostering environmental responsibility. For decades, we’ve collaborated with the City of Markham to transform it into a thriving, sustainable urban centre. Our role in the Markham Centre Advisory Committee drives sustainable urban construction practices, with Downtown Markham serving as an innovation hub for new technologies and building methods.

We support Markham’s Environmental Advisory Committee and hosted Earth Day celebrations in Downtown Markham. Our collaboration with the City and the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) led to the creation of the GTA’s first Green Road near the Aaniin Community Centre, showcasing eco-friendly runoff water management.

Remington’s Low-Rise division actively participates in energy-saving programs and adopts green technologies to reduce our communities’ carbon footprints while our High Rise Team proudly builds to LEED Silver or higher standards in all of its projects.

Sustainability is central to the Remington Contemporary Art Gallery, where we've invested over $35 million in public art. The Pride of Canada Carousel, crafted from recycled materials, exemplifies our commitment to sustainability and community engagement.

In Downtown Markham, a 243-acre master-planned 'green' community, we embrace renewable energy to tackle rising costs and environmental challenges. The District Energy system uses efficient thermal piping networks to heat and cool buildings. The Markham District Energy (MDE) plant, in the restored Alexander Bradburn Farmhouse, powers over 4 million sq. ft. and provides 3MW of power to 3,000 homes, with plans to expand significantly.

District Energy offers precise heating and cooling control, reduces equipment costs, and cuts operational expenses, while Downtown Markham's design promotes community connectivity and resource efficiency.
